PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE:
Chih-Ko Yeh, B.D.S., Ph.D. received his dentistry degree at the National Taiwan University, Taipei, Taiwan, R.O.C. in 1977, received a Ph.D. from the University of Connecticut, Farmington, in 1986, majoring in Oral Biology, and received a Certificate in Oral Medicine from the University of Connecticut, Farmington, in 1986. Dr. Yeh is currently appointed as a Professor in the Department of Dental Diagnostic Science at the Dental School, The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, and as a Research and Geriatric Dentist at the GRECC, Audie L. Murphy Memorial Veterans' Hospital, San Antonio, Tx. His previous academic appointments include being an Assistant & Associate Professor, Department of Dental Diagnostic Science, Dental School, The University of Texas Health Science Center at San Antonio, from January 1992 through August 2004; Staff Fellow, National Institute of Dental Research, Bethesda, Md. from June 1986 to December 1991. Dr. Yeh has received the James A. Shannon Director's Award from the National Institute on Aging (1995-1997), NIDR Special Recognition Award, National Institute of Dental Research (June 1990 and October 1987), and National Research Service Award, National Institute of Dental Research (1983-1985). Dr. Yeh is a fellow of the Clinical Medicine of the Gerontological Society of America (since 2004) and a Diplomate to the American Academy of Oral Medicine (since 1991), and was on a Biomedical Service Fellowship from 1980 to 1982 at the University of Connecticut. Dr. Yeh’s research interests include oral physiology, salivary gland function, geriatrics/gerontology, and oral candida infection in HIV/AIDS.
